On Sunday, April 27, 2025, University of Halabja hosted the final stage of the UoH-MathFest25 Mathematics Festival in the Central Library Hall. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Professor Dr. Bamo Perwiz Aziz (University President), Assistant Professor Dr. Ranjdar Muhammad Aziz (Assistant to the University President for Student Affairs), Assistant Professor Dr. Sirwan Hamid Ahmad (Assistant to the University President for Administrative and Financial Affairs), Assistant Professor Dr. Sarkew Salah Abdulkarim (Dean of the College of Science), several department heads, and a significant number of faculty members and students.
The event began with Mr. Dana Taha Muhammad Salih, a member of the organizing committee, welcoming the attendees and explaining the competition rules. The final round of the competition, which was the third stage, then commenced with three teams participating:
Computer Science third-stage team
Engineering second-stage team
Computer Science first-stage team
In an exciting academic atmosphere and after an intense competition, the Computer Science third-stage team secured first place and became the champions of the festival. The Computer Science first-stage team claimed second place, while the Engineering second-stage team took third place.
During the subsequent segment of the festival, Assistant Professor Dr. Ranjdar Muhammad Aziz, Assistant to the University President for Student Affairs, delivered the university's address, highlighting the importance of such scientific activities. He outlined the university's plans for expanding these types of events in the future. Following this, Mr. Makwan Abdulkhaliq, representative of the CDO organization which co-sponsored the event, gave a speech emphasizing his organization's readiness to continue collaborating with Halabja University on similar activities.
Mr. Bawar Muhammad Faraj, head of the organizing committee, presented data and information about the competition and discussed its importance, objectives, and outcomes. He also announced that Halabja University would be hosting this activity at the inter-university level during the current week.
In the final segment, awards were distributed: an honorary award from Halabja University was presented to the CDO organization, while trophies, certificates, medals, and prizes were awarded to the members of the Computer Science third-stage team as first-place winners. Similarly, medals, certificates, and prizes were given to the Computer Science first-stage and Engineering second-stage teams for securing second and third places respectively.
It is worth noting that thirteen teams from four different departments of Halabja University participated in this festival, with the competition taking the form of mathematical questions and answers conducted over three stages with 54 student participants. This activity was organized by the College of Science at Halabja University for the fourth consecutive stage in partnership with the CDO organization. The festival began on April 13, 2025, and concluded on April 27, 2025.

On Wednesday and Thursday, April 23-24, 2025, the second round of the UoH-MathFest25 Mathematics Festival was successfully held in the Central Library Hall of University of Halabja in a competitive scientific atmosphere.
Six teams participated in this round, divided into two groups. On Wednesday, Group One activities took place, consisting of:

On Thursday, Group Two activities were held, and the University President visited the participating teams. Group Two consisted of:

The results of the second round were as follows: The first-stage Computer Science team (as winner of Group B), the third-stage Computer Science team (as winner of Group A), and the second-stage Civil Engineering team (as the best second-place team) qualified for the final stage of the competition.
UoH-MathFest25 is a scientific festival in mathematics organized by the College of Science at Halabja University in cooperation with the Office of the Assistant to the University President for Student Affairs and in partnership with the Civil Development Organization.

HALABJA, April 13, 2025 – The University of Halabja is excited to announce that the second round of UoH-MathFest 2025 will officially begin on Sunday at the Central Library.
Following a successful and competitive first round, teams that secured first and second place in their respective groups have now qualified for this stage of the competition. A total of six teams will participate in the second round, now divided into two groups, where they will compete for a place in the highly anticipated final round.
According to the rules of the festival, the top team from each group, along with the best-performing second-place team overall, will advance to the final stage of the competition.
“This second round highlights the exceptional mathematical abilities of our students and reflects the academic spirit that UoH-MathFest aims to nurture,” said a festival organizer. “We’re proud of the performance and enthusiasm of all the teams so far, and we look forward to even more excitement in the upcoming rounds.”
The UoH-MathFest continues to serve as a vibrant academic platform for students to showcase their critical thinking and teamwork in the field of mathematics. The final round will take place later this month, where the winning teams will be recognized during the official closing ceremony.

The University of Halabja has successfully completed the first round of UoH-MathFest25, an annual mathematics competition aimed at promoting problem-solving, critical thinking, and academic collaboration among students from various departments and colleges.
This year’s event saw enthusiastic participation from 13 teams, representing 5 departments across 4 colleges within the university. In total, 60 students took part in the first round, showcasing their mathematical skills and teamwork.

HALABJA, April 8, 2025 - The first phase of the Math Fest kicked off today at University of Halabja with an exciting drawing of lots ceremony held at the Central Library Hall. The event brought together 13 teams representing five different academic departments across the university.
The ceremony marked the official beginning of what promises to be a competitive and intellectually stimulating festival, showcasing the mathematical talents of Halabja University students. Team representatives gathered to learn their group assignments for the preliminary rounds of the competition.
"This festival represents our commitment to excellence in mathematics education and provides our students with a platform to demonstrate their problem-solving abilities," said a festival spokesperson.
